The Penhall Company has an immediate opening for a Part time experienced Dispatcher/Administrative Assistant to join our team in our Portland, OR office. Applicant must have a minimum of 2 to 5 years' experience in the construction industry, concrete cutting experience a plus. 

The primary responsibility will be to take service calls and scheduling of services to include; dispatch workers, equipment, or vehicles as work requests are received. Perform Administrative duties such as Customer service, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Maintaining DOT records and log books. Keep a schedule of calls received, monitors resources, vehicles, and other duties assigned by the Division Manager.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: 

-At least 2-5 of service related dispatch/scheduling experience

-Receive or prepare work orders

-Confer with customers or supervising personnel in order to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.  

-Determine types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required

-Schedule and dispatch workers, work crews, equipment, or service vehicles to appropriate locations                                            in accordance to customer requests, specifications, or needs.

-Compile data such as employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records

-Provide and perform customer service, payroll (including certified), accounts payable, and other administrative tasks.  

-Order supplies and equipment, and issue them to personnel

-Arrange for necessary repairs in order to restore service and schedules


-2-5 years related service dispatch experience

-Ability to multitask while remaining detail oriented

-Knowledge of principles and methods for dispatching personnel and equipment

-Knowledge of construction or related administrative procedures and systems such as word processing,

 managing files, records, other office procedures and terminology.

-Knowledge of local thoroughfares, routes and surrounding areas

-Proficient communication and organizational skills essential

-Ability to type 60 plus WPM accurately and take dictation

-Professional level position. Incumbent receives minimal guidance and supervision

-Computer/Office Machines Microsoft Work, Excel, Outlook

-English proficient in business writing and verbal communication

-Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening.

-Knowledge and accuracy in arithmetic important

-Pass a pre-employment background record & periodical checks 

-Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving history

-Required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations

- Part Time minimum 24 hours a week. Ability to work 40 hours 3-4 times a year.
